General Education Institute's S V JOSHI Highschool is the oldest (first) school commenced in Dombivali city. The very first classes of this school ran under banyan tree in the famous Ganapati Temple which is a ''Gram-Daivat'' of Dombivali. The school was led by Late Mr. Sakharam Vaman Joshi, after whom the school was named. The school provides education from Jr. KG. to S.S.C. Previously it was only a Marathi Medium school but in the recent past they have started providing education in Semi-English medium, too. A few years ago school had added a junior college. The year 2011-12 marked the 75th anniversary of the school. Award winning filmmaker and actor Nakshatra Bagwe is an alumni of this school. == Athletics == This school has three big grounds and enough playable area for students. Notably the school has two cricket practise pitches under nets, sponsored by Mumbai Cricket Association for the Kalyan-Dombivali region players. This school has produced players like Nilesh Kulkarni, Ajinkya Rahane. The school made history by winning the Famous Cricket Tournament in Kalyan-Dombivali Region Inter-school Championship Amar Paladhe Memorial Trophy in three consecutive years.
